Dear Editor,
I offer my sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of former magistrate, Mr. Oscar Parvatan. I was fortunate to meet and interact with this illustrious gentleman some years ago while working as a court reporter and always enjoyed his sittings at both the Leonora and Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Courts.
Not only did he adjudicate in a fair and personable manner, but at the end of the day one had the feeling that justice was not only done, but that it was seen to be done in every detail.
He made court interesting – staid when the occasion permitted, and entertaining during absurd moments. He always encouraged people to see that personal relationships and life were more important than the suit that brought them before him.
His infinite wisdom and judgment will be missed. May God grant his wife, children and other relatives courage at this time. He will be missed.
Yours faithfully,
Kim Felix-Lucas
