I have noticed newspapers advertisements from time to time published as follows:
” The Adoption Board, Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security, Stabroek, Georgetown (Names of Parents) whose last known address was given as (address) is (sic) asked to contact the Adoption Board. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of (names of parents), parents of (name of child) is asked to bring this notice to their attention”.
Section 27 of the Adoption of Children Act Chapter 46:04 of the laws of Guyana provides as follows:
(1) “It shall not be lawful for any advertisement to be published indicating ..
(a) that the parent or guardian of a child desires to cause the child to be adopted, or
(b) that a person desires to adopt a child; or
(c) that any person (not being the Board) is willing to make arrangements for the adoption of a child.
(2) Any person who causes to be published or knowingly publishes an advertisement in contravention of the provisions of this Section shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine
