Dear Editor,
I recently visited the zoo with my family and was disgusted and disappointed to see the zoo in such an impoverished and degenerate state. This has been the condition for many years. I say this for the following reasons:-
1. There is an absence of proper and reliable water facilities even though they are neighbouring the Guyana Water Inc (GWI) operation base.
2. The lovely pictorial view outside on the fence is a big deception; in fact, many of the animals you see on the fence are not in the zoo e.g., the absence of the Otter (water dog) and many more.
3. Many of the animal cages are in a dilapidated state and need urgent repairs.
In conclusion, I would like to draw your attention to our preparation showcasing Guyana for the CWC. Is this how we are going to prepare by boasting about our densely relatively untouched forest which has a plethora of scarce species of birds and animals that the world is so eagerly waiting to see? Come on, Mr Minister, let’s get it right.
Yours faithfully,
David Forde
