Guyana may again soon get a national flag carrier, as President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday met representatives of an aircraft construction company to discuss the establishment or such an airline next year, a release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said.
According to the release, the proposed plan includes financing and part-management of the new airline by the Canada-based parent company, Bombardier Aerospace. The release said Bombardier’s Director of American Sales, Ross Gary and Chief Executive Officer of the proposed company, Air Guyana, Tulsi Ram Issurdatt met the President at State House.
“We are prepared to provide all the private enterprise equipment and support necessary for the firm’s establishment and operations,” Gary was quoted as saying. He reportedly expressed confidence in Guyana’s potential and described the venture as one with “tremendous opportunities.”
The release said the company is a world leading manufacturer of innovative transportation solutions from regional aircraft and business jets to rail transportation equipment, systems and services.
