A young boy of around six or seven years old was last evening decapitated after he was hit, first by a speeding motorcycle, then by a car and then by minibus on the East Bank Public Road at Diamond.
The dead child was still on the road when this newspaper arrived on the scene around 7.45 pm. The car and the bus sped away, while rider of the motorcycle was said to be in police custody.
According to eyewitnesses, the boy was riding a bicycle in a northerly direction when a motorcycle travelling in the same direction slammed into him.
The eyewitnesses said the man riding the motorcycle stopped to render assistance to the fallen child, but before he could reach him, a car travelling at a fast rate of speed crushed the child as he lay on the roadway.
Almost immediately afterwards, before anyone could react, a minibus travelling closely behind the car hit the child also. The child’s head was severed as a result of the accident.
Police up to last evening were awaiting the relatives of the child whom some persons in the area described as destitute.
