Dear Editor,
I had forgotten about the sounds that bother and bewilder people visiting Guyana from the developed countries – until I read about the barking dog chorus late at night.
The worrisome late-night things mentioned to me included the loud disco and ‘watering hole’ music, the barking dogs and, unexpectedly, the noise from the rain on roofs. Those overseas visitors, of course, are used to tiled roofs and silent rain.
One can only hope that, with the imminent arrival of cricket tourists in their numbers, something can be done about the noise nuisance.
Yours faithfully,
Geralda Dennison
