Ronald Burch-Smith was unanimously re-elected president of the Guyana Squash Association (GSA) when that body held its Annual General Meeting held at the Georgetown Club recently.
Among the other executives elected were Andrew King (vice- president), Garfield Wiltshire (treasurer) and Denise Jeffrey (assistant secretary/treasurer). Jerry Bell was elected chairperson for the Club Committee while Robert Fernandes was elected chairperson for the Competi-tions Committee.
Chairperson for the Junior Affairs Committee is Tiffany Solomon, while Tariq Williams will serve as Public Relations Officer.
Burch-Smith told Stabroek Sport that all the executives were re-elected to the offices which they held previously.
He said the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), particularly the president Juman Yassin, has facilitated many of their international tours, including the Common-wealth and CAC games.
He added too that the GOA has been instrumental in obtaining a grant from the Pan American Sports Organisa-tion.
Burch-Smith noted that the junior team performed exceptionally well last year and they are expected to win this year in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). He said further that the GSA was proud of Nicolette Fernandes’ success and accomplishments last year.
Burch-Smith expressed thanks to Fernandes for making herself available for selection to play in tournaments and to all parents, friends and sponsors who helped GSA players to represent Guyana successfully.
Meanwhile, GSA is scheduled to host its senior Easter tournament from March 27.
