A Mahaica truck driver died yesterday after his vehicle ran off the road at Supply, East Bank Demerara.
Akbar Hussain, 36, of 25 DeHoop, Mahaica was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital. He reportedly died from drowning.
According to reports, Hussain encountered problems on a turn and ran off the road. He ended up in a nearby trench and was trapped inside the vehicle.
At the time of the incident, Hussain was carrying lumber, and when rescuers pulled him from the vehicle he was said to have been unconscious.
