Dear Editor,
President Jagdeo said at the annual officers’ conference of the GDF: “I would help the new emerging private sector, not the fossils who grew up in the past and want to live off government patronage. I am not helping them,” as reported in your newspaper on March 9. Has the President examined the nature of this ‘new emerging private sector’? Does he know what it represents?
And the President has the audacity to lecture the US. In the US, hundreds of thousands of Guyanese can live safely and be secure. They fled the very Guyana that Mr Jagdeo so passionately defends.
The President must understand that the “new world economy” is based on knowledge, skill and talent. Are these the qualities represented by the ‘new emerging private sector’?
Yours faithfully,
