A man charged with wounding another man following an argument during a drinking spree was on Thursday placed on $100,000 bail.
Govin Persaud Chalitar, 28, of Number 55 Village was charged with felonious wounding committed on Sewdass Moonsammy of Crabwood Creek.
Magistrate Krishendat Persaud sitting at the Springlands Magistrates’ Court heard that on February 26, the men were drinking at Liberty Liquor Restaurant, at Skeldon, Corentyne when they became involved in an argument. According to the police, Chalitar took a steel chair and dealt Moonsammy several lashes to his body, which resulted in him suffering head injuries and a fractured right arm.
Chalitar, who was not required to plead to the indictable offence, will return to court on April 1 for police report.
