Dear Editor,
I share the Minister of Education’s concerns regarding indiscipline and violence in our schools but would urge some restraint with respect to the banning of cell phones in schools.
I feel that with adequate supervision, teachers can control students from using their cell phones in the classrooms. Cell phones are no longer a luxury but keep the students in touch with their parents re pick up i.e transportation not there or other communication e.g safety.
What is required like so many ills in our society is enforcement of regulations along with the penalties.Ban the cell phone within the classroom not the school.
Yours faithfully,
