A man who allegedly shot at two police officers in an attempt to avoid detention was yesterday refused bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Trevor Alfred, 26, of 308 North East La Penitence was not required to plead to the charge of discharging a loaded firearm.
It is alleged that on January 17 at Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara with intent to prevent lawful apprehension Alfred unlawfully and maliciously discharged a loaded firearm at police Constables Kester Cosbert and Cecil Adams. Alfred was in a car which the police were attempting to stop when he reportedly fired upon them.
Alfred’s case was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for March 21.
