Cropper Primary School at Albion, Corentyne received a computer and printer after they requested the equipment during a February 22 visit to President Bharrat Jagdeo at the Office of the President (OP).
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Jagdeo made a commitment to the students that they would get the equipment and yesterday Personal Assistant to the Head of State Prakash Gossai handed over the apparatus. Gossai said computer literacy is important in a modernised world and it was Jagdeo’s wish that all citizens become computer literate. He said Jagdeo has been a strong advocate for the application and utilisation of Information and Communication Technology and that OP is grateful to Vishnu Bandhu of New York for donating the system.
