Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan on Tuesday swore in Prakash Gossai as a Commissioner of Oaths and Justice of the Peace, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
Gossai, who was appointed Special Assistant to President Bharrat Jagdeo, earlier this year, said he is pleased about the commission and that it would help to further his humanitarian work. Gossai said he is particularly interested in working with children and youths.
GINA said Gossai spent his boyhood days at Husbands Tree, Berbice and attended the Cummings Lodge Secondary School. He studied Medical Technology at the University of Guyana and Religious Philosophy in India. GINA said Gossai is a remigrant from the United States and he is “very pleased about his appointment since he always wanted to return to serve his country.”
The ceremony was hosted in Chief Justice Carl Singh’s chambers.
