Police on Wednesday night nabbed three men who were part of a six-man gang that was about to rob a Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD) business, having already tied up the watchmen.
According to a press release, around 11 pm on Wednesday a party of policemen patrolling on the EBD arrested three of six persons who were in the process of robbing the business place. The suspects three of whom were armed with guns went to a building owned by Sheik Hassan, a dealer in spare parts, tied up the three watchmen and proceeded to rob the establishment, the police release said. Ranks saw three of the suspects at the front of the yard acting suspiciously and challenged them. They ran into the yard and were subsequently arrested. Police then untied the watchmen and seized a canter truck. Police said that efforts are being made to arrest the three other suspects.
