McGill Superstars defeated Cornelia Ida (CI) by six wickets in the West Demerara Twenty20 President’s Cup final at the Wales Community Centre ground last Saturday.
CI batted first and was dismissed for 80 in 15.5 overs with B. Sugrim picking up 4-15 while J. Balgobin enjoyed a hat-trick grabbing 3-7 bowling for McGill Superstars who, in reply, knocked off the required runs in 15.5 overs.
Earlier, in the semi-final, McGill Superstars defeated Vive La Force by 97 runs.
McGill Superstars batted first and scored 154-8 in 20 overs. Vive La Force was dismissed for an inadequate 57 in 13 overs.
McGill skipper Sudesh Persaud said he was heartened by the victory over CI having lost to them two weeks earlier.
The winners received $50,000 plus a trophy while the runner-up pocketed $20,000 and a trophy.
