Lynette Mangar’s mesmerizing collection of Indian and Western wear became the newest attraction at Buddy’s International Hotel when she opened the first boutique at that location yesterday.
Minutes after the boutique was officially opened invitees at the simple ceremony poured in and took immediate possession of the items that caught their eyes. The two employees on hand at the boutique were busy with customers for most of the morning.
In stock are a wide variety of saris, shalwar kameez, lehnga choli, tunics, traditional jewellery, bridal ghagra, cotton shirts, pants and dresses. There is also clothing for children and men and a large collection of jewellery.
Mangar, who previously had a showroom at her home and conducted business from there, told Stabroek News that a boutique is something she had envisioned and worked towards realising. She said the decision to occupy a spot at Buddy’s was an easy one to make given that the hotel is strategically located on the East Bank a few minutes away from Georgetown.
According to her, the store will be restocked every two weeks since she will be bringing in goods on a regular basis. The store, which is on the southern half of the hotel and mere inches away from the lobby will be opened from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm.
