A Plaisance minibus conductor was stabbed yesterday following an argument with his neighbour, allegedly over a pair of sneakers.
Twenty-one-year-old Richard Barrow of 23 Airstrip Road, Ogle, East Coast Demerara was at the minibus park a little after 1 pm yesterday when witnesses said that he was approached by the man who chased after him and pounced on him.
The man sustained one stab wound to the left side of his back and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
A woman who told Stabroek News that she saw what happened said the man and his assailant were seen quarrelling earlier in the day and then after midday he started chasing him and he was running for his life.
The woman said when the man finally was able to trip Barrow down he got on top of him. However, the minibus conductor was trying to kick the man off.
“The next thing I know is that we see this boy with this sharp thing and started stabbing him and he started shouting Ah! Ah!,” the woman recounted.
Barrow’s assailant was apprehended and taken into police custody.
Charges are to be laid shortly.
