Gokarn Ramdhani and Nicholas Waldron took the winners’ trophy when the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) held its over-35 doubles tournament last Thursday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Ramdhani and Waldron defeated Haymant Ramdhani and Leslie Liu 21-12, 21-17 in the final.
In the third place play-off Leroy Thomas and James Blackman received a walk over from Medharishi Ramdhani and Mark King.
King was unable to play due to injury.
Meanwhile, in earlier matches played Haymant Ramdhani and Leslie Liu defeated Leroy Thomas and James Blackman 21-10, 21-12. They showed consistency by defeating Mark King and Midharishi Ramdhani 21-15, 18-21, 21-16 to go to the final showdown against Waldron and Ramdhani.
Gokarn Ramdhani and Nicholas Waldron defeated Leroy Thomas and James Blackman 21-8, 21-7. They also defeated King and Medharishi Ramdhani 21-7, 21-16.
The tournament was sponsored by Pets 2000.
The trophies for 1st-4th places were presented by Pets 2000 representative Kamala Lashley.
A special prize was given to Leroy Thomas who showed great sportsmanship for being the most mature player in the tournament.
