Dear Editor,
The passing of Mrs Bacchus of Medicare Pharmacy is no doubt a time of sadness for her friends and family.
Please permit me to pay tribute to her work as a pharmacist, way back in the dark 80’s while she was at GPC in Kitty. I used to go to get tablets for my grandmother – with a message to collect the prescription for the ‘lady from Pike Street’. During those days of restrictions and bans and ‘hampers’ of essential items, Mrs Bacchus tried her best to share what was available through GPC with people, sometimes ignoring the conditions of sale. She was very kind to other residents in Kitty, many of whom would have supported her when she moved into her own business.
Yours faithfully,
Vidyaratha Kissoon
