The Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) on Friday presented club member Kevin Singh with a complete cricket kit in recognition of his selection to the Guyana under-15 team.
GYO President Khemraj Ramjattan, who made the presentation, told the young club members present that it was every young players’ dream to be selected to the national team.
“You should be proud that one of our own GYO players has achieved that honour,” Ramjattan added. Demerara under-15 coach Bharrat Mangru, who is also the GYO youth coach, said the club’s youth programme restarted in 2005 after the team lost all of its matches.
“Having Kevin make the team is a very good sign for our programme,” he said.
Along with the kit Singh received a brand new book entitled 75 years of West Indies cricket. Singh, in response, thanked the president of the club and the members for their generosity.
