School will be closed from today, three days before it was scheduled to be closed for the Easter holidays, a Government Information Agency (GINA) release said yesterday.
The release said the decision was made after taking into consideration the dates for the Cricket World Cup fixtures in Guyana, practice matches, the changes in traffic routes and the impact of these on the school system.
According to the release, the Ministry of Education said all schools will re-open on April 16 for the August term and will close on July 13 instead of July 6 in order to make up for the lost time.
It said the institutions that have already planned examinations for March 28, 29 and 30 will conduct these as scheduled.
