The touring United Petrotrin Football Club of South Trinidad will take on Pele Football Club this afternoon from 4 pm at the Conquerors Football ground.
The team which arrived in Guyana on Monday is on a three match tour said head coach Brian Williams a former Trinidad defender.
Williams told Stabroek Sport that his team, which has been contesting the Trinidad Pro League for the past three years, opted to tour Guyana after plans to tour the United States of America (Miami) fell through.
“We recognize the recent progress made by Guyana’s football and after the plans for Miami fell through we decided to come to Guyana as we were sure of getting good competitive games,” Williams said.
He added that his team will be using these matches as preparation for the Trinidad season which starts on April 14.
The United Petrotrin team took on Conquerors on Tuesday and won 1-0 courtesy of a Sylvester Teesdale goal in the 55th minute.
Meanwhile, co-coordinator of the tour Allan La Rose said yesterday that the Trinidad club was interested in local footballers Neville Stanton and Vernon Mills and would be having a look at those two players.
