There were wins for teams A, E and F on Tuesday evening at the Georgetown Club courts as the Guyana Squash Association’s Farfan and Mendes Easter team tournament got off to a flying start.
Some 30 players, divided into six five-person teams, began the round-robin format competition with all three encounters going down to the wire.

Team A defeated Team D 3-2
Kristian Jeffrey defeated Jerazeno Bell 4/9, 9/3, 9/3 and 9/1;Deje Dias lost to Raphael de Groot 9-3,7-9,9-3;Marvin Dannett stopped Randy Hope 9/7 6/9 9/7;Lydia Fraser lost to Kayla Jeffrey 9-10, 0-9 and Mary Fung-A-Fat defeated Victoria Arjoon 7/9 9/6 9/1.
Team B lost to Team E 2-3
Julian Chin defeated Khalil Alli 9-7, 9-2, 9-2; Alex Gouveia lost to Oliver Kear
7-9, 6-9, 2-9; Lloyd Fung-a-Fat defeated Joshua Abdool 9-5, 9-5; Stefan Jeffrey lost to Nicholas Narain 9/4, 9/4 and Abhishek Singh received a walk-over from Juan Torres.
Team C lost to Team F 2-3
Robert Fernandes defeated Alex Arjoon 10-8, 8-9, 9-7,8-10, 9-6;Damian Fernandes lost to Peter de Groot 9-3, 6-9, 1-9, 2-9; Tariq Williams defeated Shane Samuels 9-5, 9-0, Selwyn Daniel lost to Ashley Khalil 4-9, 4-9 and Emmanuel Gay gave Lee Fung-A-Fat a walk over. Mendes sponsored tournament continues this evening from 6:30pm at the Georgetown Club.
