I am very concerned about the health of the Guyanese public in light of the order by Justice Bovell-Drakes that the suspect soybean meal be offloaded from the vessel (Myra) in which it is currently stored. Given that the Myra was in midstream of the Demerara River it would have been harder for persons with dubious intentions to get the suspected salmonella contaminated soybean meal into the Guyanese agro-processing sector and from there into the food stream. However with the soybean meal on land that task becomes much easier.
