Operations at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri continued to run smoothly on Wednesday though a few passengers complained that they are arriving without their luggage.
Persons arriving at the CJIA said they were processed quickly and had encountered no problems but a few persons arriving on a LIAT flight from Barbados said that their luggage was left behind. One woman told Stabroek News that she had arrived on the 11 am LIAT flight from Barbados and her luggage had not come. She said she was given a form to fill out and told to return in the afternoon when her baggage would arrive on a later flight but she opted to wait at the airport. She said she was here to visit relatives and had no plans to go see cricket.
Most of the incoming passengers were Guyanese and had relatives awaiting them. A few had the Caricom single domestic space band on their wrists and said that they were returning to visit relatives rather than for cricket. They said the reception at the airport was great as volunteers greeted them and they were offered chicken and rum punch. In the arrivals terminal masqueraders entertained the passengers.
