President Bharrat Jagdeo is asking Guyanese to reflect on the life and success of the Prophet Muhammad as the country observes Youman Nabi today.
Jagdeo said the Muslim prophet professed the principles of universal brotherhood and equality of mankind as well as advocated for economic emancipation, and assured fraternity among religious communities.
“The Prophet was a liberator to all people, and so people of Islam have a special mandate to disseminate his principles and morals to all mankind. In our celebration of this national festival, let us also remember acts of kindness and charity to the less fortunate, as was advised by him,” the President said in his Youman Nabi message.
He expressed hope that the joy and happiness of the day will enrich the country with spiritual, cultural and moral values.
