A three-year-old boy was knocked dead yesterday by a mini-bus as he attempted to cross the Blairmont Stelling Road unaided after being dropped home from school.
Dead is Joel Raffeen of Lot 1 Blairmont, West Bank Berbice.
Stabroek News understands that just after noon yesterday, the child was in a bus travelling east when it stopped in front of his home. The bus had no conductor, this newspaper was informed and the child opened the door unaided.
He proceeded to the back of the bus and crossed but was hit by a Route 50 minibus travelling in the opposite direction.
He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital and then to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are investigating the accident.
