Dear Editor,
I am pleased to note that the main access road to the University of Guyana is much safer to traverse since it is now fully repaired. Congratulations are in order for the relevant authorities that were involved.
Having acknowledged this timely project, may I ask what the position is with Sixth Street in Cumming’s Lodge and the other nine streets in Block ‘Y’ south-east Cumming’s Lodge? I am fully aware that all the streets cannot be done at the same time, but if any government officials care to take a drive through Sixth Street they will see the present condition of this road. Many of the minibuses use this route to get to Industry, the housing scheme and Ogle. Last week I was asked by a few bus drivers to highlight the issue. They indicated they are not the protesting type, but reminded me how immediate actions were taken when aggrieved taxi drivers protested at Canje. I now wish to inform the subject minister about this matter.
I also invite the minister to observe the present condition of the newly constructed road on the eastern side of the University of Guyana running north to south, in the new Cumming’s Lodge Block ‘Y’ community. The contractor that built this road should be answerable.
Yours faithfully,
Tajpaul Gainda
