Dear Editor,
I am elated over the decision of the maritime border issue with Surname. This great achievement is a plus for all Guyana and should give us all renewed hope.
I therefore wish to congratulate His Excellency Mr Bharrat Jagdeo and all the individuals on the legal team that presented our case in such a professional and dignified way.
We in Guyana are willing to put all the irregularities and differences behind us, and embrace our dear brothers and sisters from this sister country with love and compassion.
However, last Tuesday I was up at Corriverton to get an idea of recent developments.
To my surprise and astonishment I was informed that Guyanese traders are allowed into Suriname, but when returning their goods are seized and confiscated, and they are deported back to Guyana.
This development to me is unfair and unreasonable. Some thirty traders were victims of this development. What have these innocent traders done to be treated in this manner?
Yours faithfully,
Tajpaul Gainda
