Unbeaten Pele Football Club are the new leaders of the Georgetown Football Association Cell Link Plus Premier League competition after the edged out rivals Santos 1-0 in the feature match of a double header on Friday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.
In the supporting game, Camptown and Police played to a 2-2 draw.
In a Group `B’ match of the GFA Supligen round robin U-20 competition, Beacon and Fruta Conquerors played to a 1-1 draw with Lumumba Hinds scoring for Beacon in the 11th minute while Franklyn Beresford equalized the score in the 51st minute.
In the Pele/ Santos encounter Norris Carter scored in the 52nd minute after evading a defender’s challenge to rifle a well-placed right foot shot which sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
The win was Pele’s third from eight matches.
Police despite the draw remain in the cellar. They looked like winners after goals from Athio Wallace after only seven minutes of the first half which was doubled 26 minutes into the second half through the efforts of Ewart Usher.
But Police were reduced to 10 men when Shawn Mc Cullum was ejected for his second bookable offence which allowed Dexter Mollyneaux in the 80th and Troy Prescod in the 82 minutes to score.
The GFA Premier League continues today with Alpha United coming up against GDF from 5.30pm while Fruta Conquerors will oppose Western Tigers from 7.30pm in the feature match.
