A man who allegedly raped a girl in July last year and May this year was yesterday remanded to prison by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
Regan Ashby, 26, of 23 Queen Street, Kitty was not required to plead to rape when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that between July 1 and July 31, 2006 and on May 22, 2007 at Georgetown he had carnal knowledge of the same girl.
Police prosecutor Sherwin Matthews objected to bail considering the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.
Ashby asked the magistrate to grant him bail saying he had nowhere to run since he has three children here and he lives with someone. He added that he also reports every day to the Kitty Police Station. Ashby denied that he ever committed the offence.
The magistrate refused bail and transferred his case to Court Five for November 1.
