A Leguan rice vendor who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl after she refused to have sex with him was yesterday remanded to prison by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
Ranclick Singh, 24, a rice vendor who resides at La Bagatelle, Leguan was not required to plead to rape when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on June 23 at La Bagatelle, Leguan he had carnal knowledge of the girl without her consent. Singh is said to have asked the teen whom he knew to have sex with him. She refused and he then allegedly committed the act.
Attorney-at-law Vic Puran represented Singh.
The case was transferred to the Leguan Magistrate’s Court for October 15.
