Dear Editor,
On behalf of all Essequibians I congratulate His Excellency President Bharrat Jagdeo for taking the bold step of going to the UN tribunal on the law of the Sea to resolve the Guyana – Suriname border dispute.
The president has shown the world that border issues can be resolved peacefully without violence and hatred. The President has also demonstrated to the world that there was no victory in the award but both countries have won and have accepted the decision peacefully and proudly! Other countries should follow in the path of Guyana and Suriname concerning border problems, and Venezuelan President Mr Hugo Chavez should take note. President Jagdeo has taken Guyana a far way in terms of development and I am sure every Guyanese is proud of the way he is leading this country.
He is a very good leader with visions for massive development. With President Jagdeo at the helm of the government there are several (development) projects that will come on stream within another ten years for example the highway to Brazil, the oil industry, deep water harbour, the Berbice river bridge and hydro power.
I do feel personally that President Jagdeo should remain President of this country and should run as the Presidential candidate for the next two terms, in order to see those budding industries come to reality.
I am not saying no one else can do the job
