Dear Editor,
It is with a heavy heart that I write these few lines. On Monday October 1, 2007 not only my husband Lennox Wade’s (aka Boards or papa “B”) life was shattered when the pit bulls attacked him, but the lives of his entire family. We are traumatised mentally, emotionally as well as physically. Two of our children are on scholarships and they are severely affected, as well as our younger son who is here seeing his dad who is an above average strong and healthy man virtually become a vegetable. I have to do everything for him as his hands are useless, he is maimed for life.
Persons in North Ruim-veldt have been bitten by these “killer dogs” before and they remain silent. I wish people would stop telling me about the bets that are placed for these very dogs to fight as a form of entertainment; instead they should be reporting it to the relevant authority. If it were a child or a female or a person not above average health and physical strength such a person would have been dead.
It is my hope that justice is served and laws are created to prevent something like this from happening again. I wish this for no one, not even the heartless jogger who passed by and made his harsh and cruel comments or the owner of the pit bulls and his family.
Thanks to the couple Shellon and Richardo Bovell for saving my husband and everyone for their words of support and encouragement in these trying and stressful times. My God is real and he is an awesome God.
Yours faithfully,
Sharon Wade
