A man who was sentenced ex parte three years ago to three years in prison for trafficking in narcotics and who allegedly had a gun and attempted to rob a couple last month was on Wednesday remanded to prison.
Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle remanded Sheldon Albert who pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempting to commit a felony and two unlawful possession charges when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on September 18 at Georgetown, he attempted to commit a felony, to wit robbery under arms. He attempted to rob overseas-based Guyanese couple Adriana Steve and Willie Steve. He also had in his possession one 9mm pistol along with four live rounds of 9mm ammunition without licence.
Police prosecutor Sherwin Matthews yesterday showed the magistrate a warrant for Albert who had been sentenced in 2004 for trafficking in narcotics. The particulars of that offence read that Albert on September 4, 2004 at Lot 7 DaSilva Street, Kitty had 13
