The man who was found with a gunshot wound in Agricola on Friday night said he was driven to the village in a taxi and shot unexpectedly by one of three men who were also travelling with him.
Speaking on the condition that his name be withheld, the man told Stabroek News from his hospital bed on Saturday that he hired a taxi from the Stabroek bus park to his South Georgetown home. While in the vicinity of Albouystown, he said, three men stopped the car and requested to go to Agricola. He said the taxi driver asked him to ‘flex’ and since he did not object, the men joined the vehicle, all three seated in the back. The men took the taxi deep into the village and then disembarked. According to him, the taxi driver also left the car and was leaving with the men. When he attempted to leave, the man said, one of the men turned around and shot him in the chest.
“Just like that a bullet was fired at me and I had no idea why. I was left on the road and I called out for help. Someone called the police I believe”, the man said.
Police are investigating the shooting incident. The man was found lying on the road at Evan’s Park, Agricola.
