Dear Editor,
For over one year residents of Lusignan West, East Coast, Demerara, have been writing letters about the discomfort they are going through because of the noise and dust emanating from furniture manufacturers in that area.
There were investigations but to this day regardless of all the investigations even by the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, this illegality continues.
What are the issues here? The issue is that no business of this nature should operate in a residential area.
There was a letter by a resident (07.10.11) where the editor advised the writer to seek legal help to solve the problem. Why should persons have to pay legal fees to see that illegality is stopped? Justice for those persons affected must not only be done, but must appear to be done.
Where are those who are responsible to stop such a hazardous situation? It would seem that the only way our people can have their grievances heard is by coming out on the streets.
Yours faithfully,
Murtland Slugger Williams
