Dear Editor,
I refer to the article dated 2nd October 2007 captioned “PNCR level 11 misconduct charges against Mc Allister.” I believe this is a step to repress and stigmatize party members who are perceived not to be looking through the same eyes as Mr. Corbin. It is unrealistic of the PNCR to impose such procedures on its long standing and faithful members who have served the party for decades. I’m calling on the members, supporters and well wishers of the PNCR to examine this situation carefully.
Our party has always been a responsible and caring institution which stretches its arms out to the needs of its people even across the political divide to ensure that whatever steps and decisions are taken must be in the best interest of the people of Guyana.
I do not wish to condemn Mr. Corbin, but I believe that whatever a man soweth that shall he also reap; the Bible also states “remove the beam from your eyes before you can see the speck in your brother’s eyes”.
Our party is yet to surface from its biggest ever defeat at the general elections in 2006. Out of all this we must very quickly recognize that going down this road is disastrous for our party. Echoing the 2nd Stanza of our party battle song would be refreshing in this regard.
“Hold the line of battle, comrades
Link our arms in unity
Organize and charge the forces
Of the haughty enemy!
Truth shall be our martial weapon
Brotherhood our armor plate
Guyanese the breed we’ll cherish
Scorning paths of racial hate:
From fields and office, factory
Rally to the PNCR”
I cannot help noticing the way in which our party is crumbling, it makes me want to think that there is an agenda in place, and I’m calling on that group not only to be watchful but to engage itself meaningfully in the restoration of our party.
Yours faithfully,
