Dear Editor,
I visited Bartica this week and enjoyed the beauty of the location and the hospitality of the people. However I was also shocked by the blatant advertising of prostitution. Two buildings across from one another on the road along the water and beach area are advertising the availability of sex acts. One building has a large sign which says, “Come in for some fondling time.” The other building has hand painted pictures depicting various sex acts and dialogue. These buildings are in the midst of family dwellings with children. A nursery school is just a short distance away. Why do the mayor and town council of Bartica permit an illegal business to advertise openly?
I would suggest that the Stabroek News investigate. I am attaching two photos of the buildings.
Yours faithfully,
L. Shaw
