Sixteen year-old Guyanese golfer Avinash Persaud won the Flow Millennium Lakers Club championship at Trincity Course recently in Trinidad, according to reports from the twin island republic.
His round of 71, 77 and 76 gave him victory over Trinidadian Randy Mohammed, who finished with scores of 78, 74 and 76 while Rodney Phillips placed third.
Persaud, who hails from Lusignan East Coast Demerara, won the Guyana Open last year and has received sponsorship to train in the twin island republic for this year’s Guyana Open.
The former caddy received full membership from the Lusignan Golf Club following his success last year.
He is due back in Guyana in two weeks time for the 2007 Guyana Open championships billed for November 17 and 18 at the Lusignan course.
