Dear Editor,
A grave and serious crisis is looming for Essequibians. They will now have to travel to Georgetown for their machine readable passports. The Minister of Home Affairs should move quickly to address this problem. This will cost us too much money and time and it will inconvenience the family. How will the sick and elderly get to the passport office in Georgetown to stand in lines.
Essequibians fought hard and long for this passport office to be in Anna Regina after they were suffering in Georgetown to obtain their passporst. The physical infrastructure is already here, why ask the people to go back there when the officers can come here. Since immigration is well aware of the new measures they should have put a system in place to deal with this issue and save us from inconvenience and create problems for Essequibians who need a passport urgently to travel .
Yours faithfully,
Mohamed Khan
