Minister of Tourism Manniram Prashad yesterday issued a stern warning to Constellation Tours over its failure to inform its US-bound passengers about a flight cancellation on Wednesday, hinting that it may face penalties.
Prashad was speaking at a press conference yesterday. This latest cancellation follows one on Sunday and others before.
When Stabroek News visited the Charter company’s Quamina Street office yesterday it was business at usual and the manager was unavailable to give a comment. However an employee told this newspaper that the stranded passengers left the country on a 10 am flight. The employee could not provide this newspaper with any other information.
Prashad told the media that Wednesday’s incident was “dissatisfactory and unacceptable”. He said there were two cancellations – one on Sunday owing to mechanical problems and the other on Wednesday because of a problem with one of the plane’s tires.
The minister said that the management of Constellation Tours has admitted that they have not addressed the issue of back-up planes as was discussed two months ago.
“Constellation Tours must accept full responsibility for this
