The Office of the President (OP) is calling on businesses to be on the lookout for con-men posing as representatives of government ministries and soliciting money.
According to a statement by OP yesterday, the con-men have been targeting electronic and cellular phone dealers especially.
“These con artists possess bogus requisition forms and have been making requests on behalf of the government agencies,” the OP statement said.
It added that yesterday it was reported that at least one business was robbed of approximately $400,000 in this manner. “The Office of the President and all ministries are therefore advising businesses to call OP or the respective ministry to verify any such requisition claims made by individuals visiting their business
