A 35-year-old fisherman was refused bail when he appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan at the Blairmont Court charged with break and enter and larceny. Rajendra Ramin of Bush Lot Village, West Coast Berbice reportedly broke into the dwelling of Sharmilla Kosial on October 8 and 9 and stole two Motorola cell phones valued $34,000, 10 one-litre bottles of soda worth $2,000 and chocolates, amounting to $68,000.
Police reports state that the complainant secured her house and retired to bed and the following morning she observed the northern window prised open. Upon checking she discovered the articles missing and Ramin was subsequently arrested and charged.
He was not required to plead to the offence and was remanded to prison until October 22 when he is scheduled to return to court for bail review.
