Two persons were hospitalized after the minibus that they were in collided with a truck on the Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara public road yesterday.
Bowanie Harinarine of Parika Fa?e and Rudolph Gopaul, 41, also of Parika Facade suffered injuries to various parts of their bodies. Harinarine was admitted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital while Gopaul was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Gopaul’s daughter Kousyla, the third passenger, was uninjured. She told Stabroek News that they were in the bus heading south to Bagotville, when the truck which had just come out of a street was in the process of turning in the opposite direction towards Vreed-en-Hoop.
The vehicles collided resulting in one side of the bus being ripped away. Her father, who was the driver, was the more seriously injured with his right knee appearing to be crushed. Following the accident they were rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and Gopaul was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
