Dear Editor,
I have taken up permanent residence at Diamond Housing Scheme two months past.
I travel daily by mini-bus and am appalled at a glaring illegality committed in the eyes of, and I may dare say, with the collusion of traffic ranks.
Every bus leaving the Stabroek park does so with 4 passengers exclusive of the conductor in the seats immediately behind the driver and 4 passengers in the third row of seats. If I dare complain I am abused and in one particular instance was rudely asked to leave the bus. No passenger seated in the bus muttered a single comment.
Ridiculously, if I request a lowering of the unnecessarily loud volume of the music system I am met with an enquiring stare and with no action taken. However, on passing the Providence and Ruimveldt Police Stations the volume is reduced and in some cases even removed. But no rank of either of these stations is on any of the buses guilty of these infractions. Some convoluted thinking I must say.
A tragedy is waiting to happen at the junction of the East Bank public road and the road into and out of Diamond Housing Scheme. I invite the Traffic Chief to visit there any morning between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. to see the many dangers to life and limb present.
The car park must be removed from the close proximity to the East Bank public road. The urgency of this matter cannot be over-emphasised.
Yours faithfully,
Rudolph D. Mahadeo
