Tutorial High School and Lodge Community High will bang heads today in the final of the Edwin ‘Chow’ Sealy Memorial School indoor football competition being played at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue. In the semi finals yesterday afternoon Tutorial breezed past Carmel Community High 5-0 while Lodge were equally impressive in dispatching Covent Garden Secondary 4-0.
For Tutorial Dwayne Lawrence, Joshua Kamal, Marcos Marcus, Jason Estwick and Yonic Alleyne were the goal scorers as they easily got past a hapless Carmel side.
The Lodge/Covent garden encounter was just as one-sided with Rawle Adams, Romario Andrews, Daniel Wilson and Osylin Robinson finding the nets for the winners. These two teams will now duke it out for the trophy that stands in memory of youth football stalwart Edwin ‘Chow’ Sealy.
On Tuesday Tutorial had advanced to the semis by edging St. Mary’s Community High 1-0 with a goal off the boot of Marcos Marcus. Lodge had booked their place with a 3-0 drubbing of Tucville Secondary with goals from Rawle Adams, Romario Andrews and Osylin Robinson. Carmel had made it to the round of four by virtue of a penalty kicks victory over East Ruimveldt Secondary after the two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Delon Pierce of Carmel and Eon Allen of East Ruimveldt had scored for their respective teams. Covent Garden had booked a semi final spot by beating St. George’s Secondary 2-1 through a double from Anthony Mitchell.
Exie Lewis had scored a consolation goal for St George’s. The competition wraps up today with the third place playoff between the losing semi finalists Lodge and Carmel kicking off at 2:30 pm. The two finalists then vie for the big prize at 3:00 pm. The tournament has been organized by Rudolph ‘Chow’ Hunte.
