Queen’s College student, Wainella Isaacs who gained fourteen subjects at this year’s sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams has been named the most outstanding student overall and she will receive her award during the Annual Meeting of Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) slated for December 6 in St Lucia.
The Council yesterday announced awards to be given for outstanding performance in this year’s sitting of the exams and Isaacs is one of two Guyana students who did exceptionally well.
According to a press release from the council, the award for the most outstanding candidate overall goes to Isaacs who achieved Grade Is in 13 subjects (including Agricultural Science which carries a Double Award) and Grade II in Physics. She also receives the award for the most outstanding performance in Science.
Another Queen’s College student, Arvindu Sukhram, will receive the award for outstanding performance in Business Education. Sukhram achieved Grade Is in 11 subjects and a Grade III in one subject. His Grade I subjects included six business subjects.
Queen’s College, Guyana, the school attended by the top candidate overall, will also receive the School of the Year award.
