Dear Editor,
I am a resident of Prashad Nagar, an area designated as residential. Recently, a nearby newcomer in the area opened a bodywork and spray-painting shop at Deobirana Street, Prashad Nagar. This business is a health hazard to my family and others in the neighborhood.
Not too long ago, one of the residents reported this to the M&CC. Someone from the council visited them and they stopped for a while but they are back in action. I am beginning to wonder if the fact that one of their customers is the Guyana Police Force has anything to do with their brazen behaviour.
The noise, dust and paint smell are quite unbearable and sometimes the paint leaves an aftertaste and smell with you for quite a while. I am pleading with the M&CC, the EPA, the Central Housing and Planning Authority and whoever else, to intervene and save us from this nuisance and health hazard.
Yours faithfully,
(name and address supplied)
Editor’s note
These abuses appear to be continuing without check. As the authorities appear unwilling to do anything in most cases perhaps some of the residents can combine and file a legal action against the culprit for damages for nuisance and an injunction .
